WHERE TO TRAVEL IN JUNE

June is the perfect month to slip away before the school holidays begin. And if your family’s exams are already behind you, you’ll enjoy quieter resorts, greater availability, and better prices. The Mediterranean shines at this time of year, but with a little more time, you can venture further for something more adventurous and exotic.

The best countries to visit in JUNE

Tuscany

Tuscany in June is pure magic – before the summer crowds arrive. The countryside is lush and green, punctuated with fields of sunflowers, and the hilltop towns glow under clear blue skies. Museums and galleries are easier to explore (though best avoided on weekends), and the beaches remain blissfully quiet. The month also bursts with festivals, where medieval processions, fireworks, and age-old games bring the piazzas to life.

Croatia

The high season begins in June, but it still remains quieter than July and August. Croatia is one of the sunniest spots in Europe, and June brings fine, warm days, delightful sea temperatures and calm waters that make island hopping a breeze. Head inland to one of the many spectacular national parks, for glorious views and pristine nature.

Sail Greece

June is prime time in the Ionian, and there’s no better way to savour it than by yacht. The marinas are still calm, hidden bays are yours to explore in peace, and tavernas will always find you a table ashore. Boat choice is easier too—though booking ahead is still wise. For a more resort-focused holiday, whether on the mainland or an island, June brings comfortably warm temperatures perfect for sightseeing or lounging on the beach.

Barbados

June marks the start of the rainy season, but much of the day remains sunny—and very warm. When showers arrive, they refresh the air and ease the humidity. The Caribbean waters stay crystal clear, perfect for diving and snorkelling, while food lovers can enjoy rum tastings and cooking demonstrations at the Barbados Food and Rum Festival.

The Balearics

In June, the islands remain relatively quiet, and with the glorious warm weather, it’s an ideal time to visit. Wherever you go, you’ll find uncrowded beaches, lively festivals celebrating saints or local cuisine, and an endless array of sunny terraces perfect for enjoying tapas.

Norway

Let’s start with the midnight sun – a bucket-list experience if ever there was one. In June, the fjords are at their most verdant, so whether you explore them by boat, hike along the trails, cycle, kayak, or even ski, the sheer majesty of the landscape will take your breath away.

Iceland

If cooler climates appeal, head north to this Atlantic gem, where the sun barely sets. On Midsummer’s Eve, locals celebrate the solstice with bonfires and festivities. You’ll enjoy the island’s mildest weather, making road trips along the Ring Road a breeze, seas calmer for whale watching, and many previously inaccessible landmarks open to exploration.
