WHERE TO TRAVEL IN FEBRUARY

It may be the shortest month of the year, but February often feels the longest. It’s the ideal time to chase some sun and top up on vitamin D, or escape to the Alps for quieter, ski school–free slopes (half-term aside). Whatever climate you crave, there’s a perfect destination waiting.
The best countries to visit in FEBRUARY

Sweden
For Northern Lights enthusiasts, February is a magical time to venture into the Arctic Circle. Deep snow creates perfect ski conditions, the landscapes are utterly enchanting, and those daring enough can take an invigorating ice bath. It’s also when the Sámi people celebrate the Aurora Borealis with colourful festivals and cultural traditions.

Zermatt
When the weather begins to warm ever so slightly and the ski conditions are at their peak, Zermatt is the place to be. You’ll avoid the crowds and easily snag a table at the resort’s exceptional restaurants – one of its greatest attractions.
Dolomites
With crisp temperatures come perfect powder conditions. The Dolomites make an excellent choice for half term skiing, and an even better one outside the school holidays – offering quieter slopes, superb dining, and breathtaking scenery. Don’t miss the Hidden Valley run, with a stop for lunch at the charming Scottoni Rifugio.

Abu Dhabi
This most cultural of the Emirates enjoys beautifully mild temperatures in February – warm enough for poolside relaxation, cycling along the Corniche, hiking in the mountains, or exploring the desert. It’s also the perfect time to check out the many outdoor concerts and events on the calendar.

Mexican Riviera
With golden beaches, turquoise waters nearing 30°C, and a festive atmosphere in full swing, February is the perfect time to head to the Mayan Riviera. You’re likely to stumble upon a colourful carnival – and it also happens to be prime whale-watching season.
Kenya
February marks the dry season – ideal for both safari and beach escapes. Game viewing is excellent around the watering holes and open savannahs, especially in Samburu and the Masai Mara. Days are warm without being too hot, and evenings are beautifully balmy.

Mexican Riviera
The golden stretches of sand and the mercury hitting 30C, (the water temperature is not much lower) are reason enough to pack your suitcase and head to the Mayan Riviera. Not only are you bound to catch up with a carnival in February, it’s also excellent whale watching season.
